We ran into the well-known Japanese DJ Bazookistan in Harajuku again recently. You may know her from our previous snapshots. This time, she had blue hair and a butterfly wings headband.
Bazookistan is wearing an outfit by her favorite designer, Takuya Angel, including a kimono top and matching bottoms, heart and bones bag and accessories. She is also wearing heeled lace-up boots and a cute plushie.

This is Bazookistan, a DJ and street snap model well known in the Japanese street fashion scene. You can learn more about Bazookistan on her official Twitter.
Bazookistan’s outfit is entirely made of pieces by the Japanese designer Takuya Angel, including a coat with a military front, bird embroidered back and kimono sleeves, a cartoon print t-shirt, orange shorts and matching leg warmers, claw arm covers and cyber hair falls.
Bazookistan told us that her favorite music is Makina.

Takuya Angel is probably the most iconic designer of the Harajuku look, his fashion ranges from pop to cybergoth to corsets and the production quality is impeccable. Takuya Angel Kimono-Inspired Street Fashion in Harajuku

It’s not uncommon to see amazing fashion in Harajuku, but when these two walked along the street just about every head turned in their direction. Their outfits – both of which feature original pieces by underground/cybergoth Japanese designer Takuya Angel – mix elements of traditional Japanese dress with modern/futuristic touches to create something totally original, and very “Harajuku”.
On the left is Kimaira, wearing a stunning orange outfit designed by Takuya Angel along with shoes by Yohji Yamamoto. Kimaira’s accessories include a hat with insane glasses attached, a spiked backpack by Craig Morrison, earrings, Vivienne Westwood rings, several necklaces, feather eyelashes, and an astounding number of charms.
On the right is Syrup, who is a model. Syrup’s outfit consists of a kimono-inspired top by Takuya Angel, a tulle skirt from Body Line, purple fuzzy legwarmers by Takuya Angel, and a red and black handbag, also by Takuya Angel. Accessories include a handmade bell necklace, an amazingly colorful headpiece (looks like Takuya Angel’s design, but not confirmed), feather eyelashes, and a second bag – this one featuring artwork from the Hana no Ko Lunlun manga.
Both Kimaira and Syrup told us that their favorite designer is Takuya Angel (of course). If you’re interested in more info on Syrup, she has a Japanese-language blog here. Takuya Angel also has an online store here.

It's interesting that everyone here is very interested in kitsuke, yet I've not seen any sort of thread like this.
I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on the very popular cybergoth brand Takuya Angel. Do you like the style of the clothes, their use (such as in clubbing), and the whole idea of evolving very traditional Wafuku for modern crowds and the new generation of Japanese (who, stereotypically, do not have much knowledge about kimono)?

These beautiful images are from Takuya Angel, a relatively small fashion brand with a devoted fan following. Takuya Angel is unusual in that it combines elements of traditional Japanese and contemporary clothing. Pieces are adapted for a modern lifestyle using bright colors and unexpected materials like polyester, velvet and fur. Takuya Angel has also been influenced anime and manga, inspired by a fresh depiction of the past seen in series like Samurai Champloo.

Takuya Angel is a Japanese fashion brand who develops vibrant patterns on traditional cloth cuts. Their philosophy has been applied to this front shop, mixing tradition and technology. The furniture feels light, like an exposition.

Last weekend at Pacific Media Expo, we flipped over Takuya Angel. The Japanese designer/DJ works with his wife Akiko to create unusual pieces that cross over between the wa (traditional Japanese) and cyber styles popular in Tokyo clubs.
Amongst the more popular items at PMX were the deco eyelashes worn by Akiko Angel in the above photo. The eyelashes varied in price, typically between $25 and $45 depending on the intricacies of the design. Each set is handmade by Akiko and features embellishments like bows and hearts.
